What is anti piping compound (APC) used for?
APC is a powder spread on the molten metal in a riser or ingot top. It insulates the surface and, in exothermic grades, adds heat, so the metal stays liquid longer and the pipe shrinkage cavity stays small.
What do exothermic sleeves do in a foundry?
They line the riser or feeder head, keep the metal hot so it can keep feeding the casting, and allow a smaller riser, which improves casting yield.
How is exothermic different from insulating material?
An exothermic product reacts and gives off heat. An insulating product only slows heat loss. Many sleeves and APC grades combine both, and the right balance depends on your metal and riser size.
What is SLAG-30 compound?
SLAG-30 is a slag holding compound. It helps gather and hold slag on the metal surface, so cleaner metal is poured and fewer slag inclusions reach the casting.
